Dear Shoppers and our Beloved Public,

Following the Facebook account of YB Mr. Junz Wong on the alleged bloody robbery on a 20-year old school girl that took place around 19:10pm on the 6 January 2014 at the basement (Lower Ground Floor, toilet "A") area of Suria Sabah, and that the victim claimed to have sustained two deep cuts on her hand and thigh as per the photos below, our management have conducted our own thorough investigation as below.

We have interviewed the staff who was manning toilet "A" at Lower Ground floor, interviewed the tenants of the surrounding shops (i.e. Watson's, Adidas Neo, Grace One, Guardian, Payless, and Tong's) also studied the CCTV footages carefully. From the CCTV, it makes one wonder whether or not this incident had actually happened. If this incident had happened, the victim would have reported the matter to the management of the mall immediately, or the incident would have been witnessed by the staff who was manning the toilet and also the tenants at the nearby shops at the material time.

To support our finding, we are pleased to share the CCTV footages of the alleged time and place where the alleged incident took place for the public to view. Please see the details below.

From the entire CCTV recording, there was no recorded footage of any commotion, including the claims of "chasing and robbing" of any kind.

We found a group of shoppers, 1 young guy and 4 young girls that looked like around the age of late teens or early twenties. We found one of the girls with a bandage on her left wrist with her group of friends in the CCTV. For ease of reference, we shall refer to the girl with the bandage as "Vic".

We are perplexed by the conduct of the said traumatized victim because such a conduct is not consistent with a person traumatized by the incident of robbery or assault that was claimed to have taken place.

It was also reported and confirmed that she went to Permai Clinic for treatment however she was seen to go back into Suria Sabah again at around 20.00pm on the same day. This is not consistent with the conduct of a person who has just been robbed and assaulted.

We hope that the public will look at the CCTV and make your own judgement.

We found a group of shoppers, 1 young guy and 4 young girls, that looked like around the age of late teens or early twenties. We found one of the girl with a bandage on her left wrist happily chatting away with her group of friends in the CCTV. For ease of reference, we shall refer to the girl with the bandage as "Vic".

Around 18.42pm:
Vic alone enters lift lobby 2, Lower Ground Floor, presumably heading to toilet "A", without bandage on both hands.

Around 18.51pm:
Vic exit lift lobby 2 on Lower Ground Floor, with bandage on left hand, alone. She looked relaxed, swinging her hands, doesn't look in pain, was playing phone. Nothing abnormal except with a bandage.

Around 18.56pm:
Both Vic and the guy friend was seen to appear in Lift Lobby 1 of Lower Ground floor, and it was seen that Vic rewrapping the bandage herself in the presence of the guy friend. It was seen from the CCTV that the left hand of Vic seem to be moving freely, doesn't look in pain.

Around 19.59pm - 20.00pm:
Vic, her 3 other girl friends and the guy re-enter Suria Sabah. Vic, her 3 other girl friends and the guy enter lift lobby 2 of Ground floor. Vic showed her left hand bandaged. Vic was moving normally with big actions and movements. Vic was interacting happily with her friends. Vic doesn't seem to be in pain. The group entered the lift, then exited the lift.

Suria Sabah Shopping Mall has suffered negative publicity since the news of this alleged incident was widely spread on Facebook, Whatsapp, and subsequently various newspapers, thus this response from our management.

Thank You

Yours Sincerely,
