Thailand and Malaysia registered wins in their opening Group B matches in the AFF Suzuki Cup soccer championship in Phuket, Thailand, on Saturday.
Three-time champion Thailand beat Vietnam 2-0 while Malaysia trampled Laos 3-0 earlier that day.
The top two teams will advance to semifinals, while the other two semifinalists will come from Group A which comprises Cambodia, Myanmar and reigning champion Singapore and co-host Indonesia.
Indonesia and Singapore racked up convincing wins, 3-0 over Myanmar and 5-0 over Cambodia respectively on Friday. --JP
